The day things started disappearing
This is my practice e-asstle writing I did, the task was to write a narrative about the day things started disappearing. I hope you like it! Also make sure to leave any advice on what I can do to improve :)
My eyes flicker and I see a bright light piercing my eyes.
“Five more minutes please,” I groaned. I was expecting to hear my mother say,
“No Phoebe, schools about to start.” But all I got was silence.
“Mum?” I called out, concerned. Again no response. I forced myself awake and went to go look for my mother, as I slowly shuffled down the hallway I took a glance at myself in the mirror, I gasped. Instead of my long blonde hair and bright blue-eyed self, a terrible monster stared back at me, it had green hair and its eyes were fully white, it had mounds of hair sprouting out from its legs. Its body was so slender and its face looked white as snow. It couldn’t be me, it just couldn’t. But sure enough, I looked down and saw the same, bear-like legs. I pinched myself, it must be a dream. But I stayed the same ugly monster.
I ran down towards my kitchen, tears squirting from my now fully white eyes. As I was sprinting down the hallway, the kitchen seemed to be getting more and more far away. I started to run faster desperate just to make it to the kitchen to see my mother, father and little brother Eli. I tripped in my place, looking up the kitchen it was fully gone, all I saw was a pitch-black hole twisting and turning in its place. I got up pacing the opposite, the force was tenacious and I was being sucked into a whirlpool and blacks, purples and little grey stars.
I must have passed out for a while because when I woke up I was no longer being pulled into a twisting blackhole, but instead, I was in a fully white room, I couldn’t tell where the walls were, nor the ground. Everything seemed a blur, I felt sick and queasy. As my eyes darted around the white, cloudy room, I saw a small figure standing next to me. A little boy it looked like. In shock, I rubbed my eyes blinking at the boy. As everything began to become clear again, I noticed that the person standing next to me was Eli.
Eli didn’t look different, he still had his dusty blonde hair and emerald green eyes,
“Eli?” I wailed.
Eli looked confused.
“What?”
“Where are we?” I said tear spurting from my eyes.
“What do you mean, we’re in our kitchen!” He said, confusion stealing his face.
Eli didn’t see it. It was only me, what had I done to deserve this?
Eli started walking away, his red school bag shaking as he picked up his pace.
“Wait!” I screamed, grabbing his small arm.
“What do you want, Chloe, I have to go to school!”
Upset I unclutched my hand from his wrist and watched him run into the distance. I lost sight of him and everything became blurry again.
It was like everything had disappeared. Everything I once owned was now gone. As I pushed my face into my hands my hair touched my cheek. I brushed it off feeling that it was rough, feeling like straw. I looked around taking another look at my dreadful body. Abruptly the world flicked black. I couldn’t feel anything and my body was stuck in place. Two hands wrapped around my neck,
“This is the day where things started disappearing, and now it's time for you to disappear.”
The voice of this person sounded very childlike.
I struggled, trying so hard to breathe but his hands were too strong. I tried to look at his face. My heart sunk, the person who was strangling me to death was my little brother, Eli.
“Eli, please don’t!”
“Goodbye Chloe,” He said, letting out an evil laugh.

Wearable arts
Last night we did our end of term wearable arts show. It was really fun and it was so nice to see how much effort everyone put in. Here is our speech along with a few photos of our overall design.
I soar down to get a drink of water or some fish to eat, but what I get is plastic.
This is our wearable art modeled by Scarlett Noble. Our title for this bruised, bloody bird is called Flock of Plastic. We named it Flock of Plastic because we are afraid that when we look out our windows instead of seeing beautiful birds flying together in flocks, we will see plastic bags and other plastic products. We have been focusing on the concept of the many birds who die because of our toxic rubbish. Approximately 1 million seabirds die from plastic each year. A
plastic bag can kill multiple animals because the soft plastic takes so long to disintegrate. Many of these birds accidentally eat plastic and other debris floating in the ocean, mistaking it for food. It’s probable that it injures or kills the birds by cutting their stomachs or taking up space, making them feel full when they are actually starving for real food.
The skirt and wings are made out of plastic bags because plastic bags are the main cause of death for the birds, especially the albatross. The top half of the creation of our wearable art is made out of spoons to create a feathered effect. Spoons are also a danger to the birds because the pointy handle end of the spoon will cut their stomach lining, and intestines, resulting in the bleeding, that is why we have added the blood. It is dripping down her body because it is a cause of the plastic ripping her apart, starving her. The bruised heart in the middle of the chest represents the pain it feels from the plastic, killing her kind, some even being her own children.
The Albatross is critically endangered because of the decisions we are making. There is an estimated population of only 100, of one of the 22 species.
This is a representation of what happens to birds when they are getting a drink of water or just looking for some food. I hope you see this, and hopefully, it had persuaded YOU to make a change. It only takes one person to make a difference.
